poster for Brilliant Corners Jazz Series

Enliven your senses this Spring with this exceptional jazz series that will lift your spirits to the sounds of phenomenal players.

 ***

Brilliant Corners: a Silence Jazz Series takes its inspiration from Thelonious Monk’s 1957 album “Brilliant Corners”— one of the most important and influential albums in jazz history. It is widely regarded as a landmark in post-bebop modern jazz and a pivotal turning point in Monk’s career.

The album marked Monk’s triumphant return to the spotlight after years of struggles, including mental health challenges, legal issues, and limited opportunities to record his original compositions and is seen as a showcase of Monk’s singular genius as a composer, pianist, and bandleader.
